Video conferencing in a large space

Every company often has a meeting room, which is intended for larger groups. We are talking about rooms of more than 12 people. In these so-called boardrooms, the capacity is often 12 to 16 people. The closest participant sits 1 to 1.5 meters from the screen and the furthest away at a distance of 4.5 meters.

The setups in these large meeting rooms vary from long or oval table arrangements. It is very convenient to choose a control panel on the conference table in these rooms, so that a user can easily start and control the call. One fact remains, however, that the audio and video quality must be of an excellent level. After all, in the video conference you also need to make sure that the participant sitting furthest away from the screen can be understood and seen clearly. A powerful PTZ camera is therefore a requirement and our experts also recommend up to three microphones for the table. If you do not have space for this, you can also choose our convenient ceiling microphones or ceiling tile solutions.

Requirements for a large video conferencing room

You need a (interactive) screen of at least 75 inches. A commonly sold size, which we see more and more these days, is an 86 inch large display. This allows you to display everything even larger and to divide the screen into 4 parts more easily. For sound, you can opt for external audio, with two soundbars under or next to the screen, for example, or speakers in every top corner of the room or in your ceiling tiles.

You'll need a 75-inch monitor or projector, a computer or laptop, a video calling program like Zoom or Micorosoft Teams, a meeting camera with a built-in microphone and speaker. Optional Logitech Tap Teams or Logitech Tap Zoom base would give an even better video conferencing experience with room solutions.

Logitech Group

Logitech GROUP is the amazingly affordable video conferencing solution for rooms that seat up to 14 people (or up to 20 with optional expansion microphones). A familiar speakerphone experience with center or table audio combined with advanced features like acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction technology and intuitive controls, it's easier than ever to get everyone involved in the conversation. For great sounding audio calls, pair a mobile device with Bluetooth wireless technology with the Group speakerphone.

Sound in the video collaboration room

Good audio is essential in video conferencing. After all, when you can't see each other, you can always talk. In order to be able to hear and understand the participants in the video conference properly, several microphones are placed on the table in large rooms. Additional microphones can also be purchased. A double speaker or a soundbar near the screen completes the room and provides the participants with sufficient incoming sound. This ensures that the other video conference participants can also be heard clearly. Make the room user-friendly by adding a control panel so that one user can control the entire video call.

Below you can see a number of examples of situations in which videoconferencing is used in a small (meeting) room. You can also see what this room looks like and how it can be arranged. If you want to know how to set up the room in terms of cables, you can take a look at: Logitech Rally BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setup. Or the Logitech Rally with Logitech Tap meeting room controller.

Which products do we recommend?

For a large room, the Logitech Group is a beautiful and complete system for up to 14 participants. The Group allows conference participants to talk within a 3-meter radius of the speakerphone and still be heard clearly by remote participants. It even appears as if conversations are taking place in the same room. With the optional expansion microphones, the conversation area expands from 20 to 28 people, so that anyone sitting further away from the speakerphone can also be heard clearly.

Optional products to connect with

The Logitech Swytch AV connector allows you to implement video meeting room solutions from providers such as Microsoft or Zoom while enabling meeting rooms with other video services.

The Barco Clickshare CX20 is a wireless presentation system that allows users to easily share content from their laptop or mobile device on the presentation screen.
